Version numbers & this changelog

v1.1.21

July 3, 2026

  • NewThis changelog — everything that has shipped, in one place.
  • NewThe app now shows its version number in the landing-page footer and on your Account page. It links here.

Your name, your byline

v1.1.18

June 30, 2026

  • NewPick a display name on the Account page. It shows up everywhere your email used to — collaboration invites, the collaborators list, and feed bylines.
  • ImprovedThe built-in example story now shows off tabbed Bible notes, so you can see how tabs work before splitting your own.
  • FixedThe real-time collaboration server no longer restarts itself during an intentional shutdown.

Reference sidebar & sturdier feedback

v1.1.14

June 27, 2026

  • NewA reference sidebar in the Bible and Storyboard workspaces keeps your characters, notes, and manuscript outline one click away while you work.
  • ImprovedIn-app feedback (the floating Bug/Idea button) is now saved permanently on the server, so a report can never get lost in transit.

The community update

v1.1.13

June 23, 2026

The biggest release since launch: a place to share your writing, plus a batch of craft tools for the revision phase.

  • NewCommunity feed — share a scene or a freeform passage as a snippet, and read, like, and comment on what other writers post.
  • NewCertified membership — share three snippets and take the originality pledge to earn a certified seal, and post to a certified-members-only audience.
  • NewScene status — mark scenes draft / revised / final, tag them with POV and location, and filter the Board and Timeline by status.
  • NewManuscript goal — set a total word target and an optional deadline; the writer shows progress and the daily pace needed to hit it.
  • NewOutline tab — a clickable chapter/section outline in the writer sidebar, built from your headings. Click to jump.
  • NewTrash — deleting a story now moves it to a Trash page where it can be restored for 30 days before it's gone for good.
  • NewDark mode — four themes (Paper, Ink, Sepia, Slate) on the Account page. Your choice sticks, with no flash on reload.
  • NewComments on Bible items — leave threaded comments on any character, world note, or plot point, not just the manuscript.
  • ImprovedePub export now splits your manuscript into real chapters on each big heading, with a title page and table of contents. Print/PDF starts each chapter on a fresh page too.

A proper front door

v1.1.12

June 10, 2026

  • ImprovedThe landing page was rebuilt from scratch — animated previews of all four workspaces, feature highlights, and a look that finally matches the app.

Tabbed notes & rich formatting

v1.1.11

June 3, 2026

  • NewNotes on characters, world entries, plot points, and scenes can be split into named tabs — Personality, Backstory, whatever fits.
  • NewA formatting toolbar on those notes: bold, italic, highlight, and bullet/numbered lists.
  • NewHighlighting in the manuscript writer, synced live to collaborators and carried through to share links, print, and exports.
  • ImprovedThe “Manage tags” button now sits next to the tags it manages instead of floating at the far edge of the screen.

Pictures & phones

v1.1.9

June 2, 2026

  • NewAttach a reference image to any character, location, plot point, or scene. Images show on cards, the public share page, and print.
  • ImprovedA big mobile and accessibility pass: workspaces adapt to small screens, the writer's notes slide over instead of squeezing, kanban columns snap-scroll, and keyboards can drag cards.

Sign in with Google

v1.1.7

May 25, 2026

  • NewContinue with Google, as an alternative to email magic links. Same account either way — they link up by email address.
  • FixedWhen a sign-in email fails to send, you now get a clear explanation instead of a generic server error page.

Hello, Tales & Fables

v1.1.5

May 23, 2026

  • ImprovedThe app has a real name: Inkwell is now Tales & Fables, live at talesnfables.com.
  • ImprovedThe landing page grew to cover everything the studio actually does — all four workspaces, collaboration, exports, and daily prompts.
